CHILDREN’S SERVICES LIBRARIAN

Position Description: River Forest Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic Children’s Services Librarian to join our Children’s Services Department, serving kids from birth through 4th grade and their families. The ideal candidate has genuine enthusiasm for working with children in a library setting and a passion for children’s literature. Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to work in a creative, collaborative environment is a must.
The Children’s Services Librarian will assist the Manager of Children’s Services with:
Developing and implementing a wide range of programs for children (birth through 4th grade)
Managing and maintaining Children’s print and digital collections
Promoting Children’s programs, services, and collections through community outreach
Providing reference and readers’ advisory services in the Children’s Room
Regular and ongoing administrative tasks within the Department
Full time: 37.5 hours/week (exempt); includes nights and weekends as scheduled
Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited school; At least three years of experience working with children and their families, and at least one year in a library setting; A valid driver’s license and a car
Salary information: $35,887-$38,500 based on experience; includes full benefits package.

ADULT SERVICES LIBRARIAN
Position Description: If you have a passion for books, technology and helping people discover all the library has to offer, then this is the job for you. The River Forest Public Library is searching for a technology savvy, customer-service oriented team player to help us build our print collections, deliver and expand our program offerings, and connect our patrons to a wide of array of library services. This part-time position will work in our Adult and Teen Services Department.
The Adult Services Librarian will be responsible for:
Providing reader’s advisory, reference, computer and e-book assistance to patrons.
Collection Development responsibilities as assigned.
Assisting with library programming for adults.
Full/part time: Part time: 16 hours/week. Hours will include daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
Requirements: MLIS and at least 1 year experience working in a public library. Excellent customer service skills. Collection development experience. Must enjoy working with people of all ages. Broad reading interests. Ability to work and communicate effectively and tactfully with the public and staff in a friendly and courteous manner; Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
Salary information: $18.50/hour
