Kindles

Kindles have come to the River Forest Public Library!

The Kindle is a portable electronic reading device developed by Amazon. Kindles utilize technology such as wireless connectivity and electronic paper to deliver a unique reading experience.

The River Forest Public Library Kindles will come pre-loaded with selected digital content. The library has 5 Kindles available for checkout: the Popular Fiction Kindle, the Popular Non-Fiction Kindle, the Mystery and Suspense Kindle, the Leadership Non-Fiction Kindle, and the History Non-Fiction Kindle. In addition, the River Forest Public Library owns a 6th Kindle for in-library use only, so that patrons who are interested may take a look and test out the Kindle prior to checkout. Use of the River Forest Public Library’s Kindles are limited to River Forest Public Library patrons 18 years of age and older.

At this time, the content on each Kindle is fixed. Patrons will not have the ability to purchase content from the Kindle store on Amazon through the library Kindles. However, we will periodically update the content on these Kindles and welcome suggestions for additions.
