Reading Olympics

Reading Olympics 2014-2015

Reading Olympics is a literature enrichment program sponsored by School Districts 90 and 97, River Forest Public Library, and Oak Park Public Library, as well as several area private schools.

At the beginning of the school year all 5th grade students are invited to participate in the Reading Olympics program. Students read a list of 18 chosen books and compete with each other answering questions about the books. The students answer with the name of the book and the name of its author.

School teams are formed (three students each) and the schools meet three times a year for competition. The first two competitions cover nine books each. The last competition, held in April, covers the previous 18 books.

Students wishing to participate should contact their school librarian.

Schools who are interested participating can contact Margaret Banerji at 708-366-5205 ex. 317 or mbanerji(@)rflib.org

You can also find more information on District 97′s Reading Olympics webpage.
