May Children’s Programs

Monday, 5/6, 10 AM, Miss Clara’s Mini Musicians
Join early childhood music specialist Clara D’Onofrio as she takes you and your child on a musical journey that will have your child singing, dancing, playing rhythm instruments, and exploring musical concepts with a parachute, bouncing balls, and more! Learn more about this exciting (and educational!) music program at www.MsClarasMusic.com. For ages 2-5, pre-registration is required.

Monday, 5/6, 7 PM, Pajama Night
Too old for PJ story time? Wear your pajamas to the library anyway! Bring your own book or ask Miss Ellen for a personal recommendation. Pillows optional. (For kids who are independent readers).

Saturday, 5/18, 11 AM, Butterfly Story Time
While our caterpillars continue to grow, join Miss Ellen and Miss Ashley for butterfly stories, parachute games and a fun craft.

Sunday, 5/19, 2 PM, 4th and 5th Grade Book Group
Kids in grades 4 and 5 are invited to join us for a book discussion. In May we’ll read The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies. Pick up your copy at the Circulation Desk in advance.

Tuesday, 5/28, 10:30-11:30 AM, DIY Baby Games
Bring your little one and stop by RFPL for DIY Baby Games. We’ll share great ideas for games you can make at home for your baby or toddler to play with. We’ll have demos of each game for you and your kiddo to try out at the library. You’ll also have a chance to register for our Baby and Me Summer Reading Program. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about reading, playing and bonding with your baby. *Note: we will be repeating this program on 6/1 at 10:30 AM*

Monday June 3rd,1:30-2:30 PM, Dino Dig Story Time
Join RFPL for dinosaur stories and fun! We’ll share our favorite dino books, songs and activities. For kids ages 4 to 6 with parent/caregiver. Registration is required. Call 708.366.5205 or email childrens@riverforestlibrary.org to sign up.

Thursday, June 13th, 3:30-4:30 PM, Stamp and Taste with Whole Foods Market River Forest
Join us at RFPL as our friends from Whole Foods Market River Forest take us on a fruit and veggie tasting journey. After we taste these goodies, we’ll use fruits and vegetables to make stamps and art! For kids ages 4-7 with parent/caregiver. Registration is required. Friday, June 14th, 3-6 PM, Summer Reading Kick Off Party
Start your summer off right! River Forest residents and school students are invited to sign up for summer reading and join us for the kick off party. We’ll have a bounce house, inflatable obstacle course, popcorn, sweet treats and lawn games for all summer reading participants. This year, we have summer reading programs for all age levels: babies, kids, teens and adults. Don’t miss it!

Join library staff every Wednesday during Summer Reading to play a fantastic new game! From Twister to Blob Tag, we’ll play lots of fun games this summer. Call 708.366.5205 to find out what we’re playing this week. For children entering grades 2-5.

Friday, June 21st, 1-4 PM, Library Scavenger Hunt
Kids entering grades 2-5 are invited to drop in anytime from 1-4 PM for a pirate-themed library scavenger hunt! Work in a team, or on your own, to test your library knowledge and answer clues. Kids who participate in the scavenger hunt will be entered into a prize drawing!

Monday, 6/24, 1:30-3:30 PM, Open Art Drop In
Drop in to the children’s room for some open ended art activities. All materials will be provided.

Tuesday, June 25th, 3-4 PM, Dave DiNaso’s Traveling World of Reptiles
Join us on RFPL’s front lawn for Dave DiNaso’s Traveling World of Reptiles show. Dave’s show is an entertaining, up-close, hands-on, experience about reptiles and amphibians from around the world!
