The River Forest Public Library offers targeted programs to meet community needs and interests as identified in our Strategic Plan. In planning and carrying out its sponsored programs, the Library aspires to meet the standards set forth in the Library Bill of Rights. The Library also recognizes that the resources available for the sponsorship of programs are limited and the selection, planning and implementation of Library sponsored programs ultimately rests in the discretion of the Library’s professional staff.
The library reserves the right to restrict program attendance. Programs may be cancelled, in advance or the day of, if minimum attendance is not met or due to unforeseeable circumstances.
Tuesdays, 5/5-5/19, 10-11 AM, Mother Goose Café, Birth-18 months
Join us for coffee, stories, and play. Stories begin at 10:20 AM. For kids birth-18 months with parent/caregiver.
Thursdays, 5/7-5/21, 10 AM, Toddler Time, 18 months-3 years
Join us for stories, music, and movement. For kids 18 months-3 years with parent/caregiver.
Fridays, 5/8- 5/22, 9:30 AM, Family Story Time @ Whole Foods Market, Birth-6 years

Monday, 5/18, 6:30 PM, PJ Story Time, 2-7 Years
Wear your pajamas and bring a stuffed friend to our special evening story time program! For ages 2-7 years with parent/caregiver.
5/1-5/31, DIY May: Magnets
Experiment with magnets and create buildings with magnetic blocks in the Children’s Room.
Bring mom to the Library for a fun breakfast tea party featuring spring crafts, games, stories, and more. Dads and other caregivers welcome.
Lights… Camera… Action! Join staff from Steve & Kate’s Camp at the Library for an afternoon of stop motion animation. Children will create characters, design sets, and film stop-motion masterpieces on custom-built, tabletop iPad stations. All materials are provided— just bring your imagination! Advanced registration is required.
Do you have what it takes to solve the case? Put your sleuthing skills to the test during this whodunit mystery event. Snacks will be served as part of the fun. Advanced registration is required.
LEGO fans are invited to register each month and join us for LEGO Club. Participants will be given a new LEGO building challenge each time we meet. LEGO bricks will be provided. Advanced registration is required. For kids in grades K-4. Both sessions will have the same activities, so please just sign up for 1 time slot.
Calling all budding toddler artists! Come listen to a story and make a related masterpiece. Advanced registration is required.
Going on a long car, plane, or train trip this summer? Stop by the Children’s Room to assemble some great DIY activities that you can take with you on your journeys.
