Board of Trustees
River Forest Public Library
Facilities Committee – Landscaping Subcommittee 
Friday, April 29th 2011 – 1:00 pm


Present: Trustees Margaret Horseman, Alice Calabrese-Berry, Joan Cusack.  Director Sophia Anastos and staff –member Joanna Bertucci were also present.  Visitors included Colleen Hulen of Hulen Landscape Contractors and Michelle Kelly of Upland Design.  President Joan O’Connor arrived at 4:05 pm.

Trustee Horstman called the meeting to order at 1:05 pm.

Trustees and Director Anastos discussed the responses to questions given to landscape candidates and worked on formulating questions for the candidate interviews.  

Trustee Horstman asked for a motion to approve the Minutes of the Landscaping Subcommittee from March 29th, April 26th, and April 27th, Trustee Calabrese-Berry so moved and Trustee Cusack seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously

New Business: Interview Landscaping Candidates 

Colleen Hulen of Hulen Landscape Contractors arrived at 1:25 and answered questions and participated in discussion regarding the River Forest Public Library Landscaping project. 

Michelle Kelly of Upland Design arrived at 2:45 and answered questions and participated in discussion regarding the River Forest Public Library Landscaping project. 

After both interviews were concluded the Trustees and the Director discussed the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate.  Library Board President Joan O’Connor arrived at 4:05 pm to participate in the discussion.

After discussion the Trustees decided to cancel the Special Board Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 3rd as they are not prepared to make a recommendation to the Board.  It was also decided that the library would ask Mr. Joe Huberty of Engberg Anderson to perform a site investigation of the building’s exterior to inform decisions regarding removal of the dirt beds.
