River Forest Public Library
Facilities Committee – Landscaping Subcommittee 
Friday, May 27th 2011 – 5:00 pm


Present: Trustees Harley Beck, Alice Calabrese-Berry, Genie Halloran.  Subcommittee Chair Margaret Horstman, Director Sophia Anastos, staff –member Joanna Bertucci were also present.  President Joan O’Connor arrived at 5:10 pm.

Subcommittee Chair Horstman called the meeting to order at 5:04 pm.

Approval of Minutes:  Trustee Beck moves to approve the minutes of the April 29th meeting, Subcommittee Chair Horstman seconds and the motion passes unanimously. 

Old Business: None

New Business: 
- Landscape Consultant Recommendation to the Board
o Trustee Anastos shared a letter of recommendation for Upland Design. 
o The committee discussed the results of Engberg Anderson’s engineering study and the removal of the dirt beds in front of the library. 
o The subcommittee called Joe Hubery of Anderson Anderson to discuss removing the dirt and possibly re-cladding the limestone in front of the building.
o After discussion, the committee decides to recommend that the Board of Trustees hire Update Design, with a budget of $100,000.00, to complete the landscaping project.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 pm.
